Choose Your Custom Photo Lithophane Style:

We offer two beautiful ways to showcase your images, each with customisable finishes:

  • Single Pane Lithophane: An elegant, slim panel showcasing a single, impactful photograph (approx. 14.5cm tall). Choose your display option:
    • Unframed: Perfect if you have your own display method or prefer a minimalist look (light source not included). Plus, it’s ideal for windowsills where natural light shines through.
    • Framed with LED Light: Comes complete with a stylish frame (approx. 16.2cm tall x 12.6cm wide) and an integrated LED base, turning your lithophane into a beautiful, ready-to-display night light or desk lamp. Simply choose your frame finish:
      • Wood Like PLA: A classic, natural look using specialised wood-infused filament. Available in Clay Brown (earthy tone) or Ochre Yellow (warm wood shade).
      • Galaxy (Available in various colours): Deep colours with a subtle sparkle that twinkles beautifully in the light.
      • Matte (Available in various colours): A smooth, non-reflective finish for a modern, understated look.
      • Silk (Available in various colours): A glossy, premium finish with a beautiful sheen.

 

  • Box Lithophane (Adjustable Light Included): Create a captivating, customisable lamp! This cube (approx. L 15cm x W 15cm x H 15cm) allows you to display between 3 to 5 images (one for each side panel, plus an optional top panel). It comes complete with a USB-powered, 3-tone LED light (choose warm or bright white light). Don’t have all your images ready? No problem! You can order with fewer images and add extra panels later, or keep sides blank with matching panels. Choose your box finish:
    • Wood Like PLA: A cosy, natural aesthetic using wood-infused filament. Available in Clay Brown (earthy tone) or Ochre Yellow (warm wood shade).
    • Galaxy (Available in various colours): A deep finish with an enchanting sparkle.
    • Matte (Available in various colours): A clean, modern, non-reflective finish.
    • Silk (Available in various colours): A luxurious, glossy finish with a high-end sheen.

 

Black & White or Vibrant Colour?

  • Classic Black & White: Offers a timeless, elegant look with beautiful contrast and subtle grey tones.
  • Full Colour: Brings your photos to life exactly as you remember them, with vibrant hues appearing when backlit.

 

The Secret Ingredient: Your Photo Quality (Very Important!)

Lithophanes work their magic by varying the thickness of the 3D print – thinner parts let more light through (highlights), while thicker parts appear darker (shadows). To capture the best detail and create a truly stunning result, the quality of your original photo is crucial.

For the absolute best outcome, please provide:

  • High-Resolution Images: Naturally, the higher the quality and detail in your original photo, the more intricate the lithophane will be. Avoid blurry, pixelated, or overly small images.
  • Unedited Originals Preferred: While basic cropping is fine, heavily edited photos (especially those with filters, artificial contrast boosts, or effects) can lose the subtle light and shadow details needed for a great custom photo lithophane. Whenever possible, send us the original digital file straight from your camera or phone.
  • Good Contrast & Lighting: Similarly, images with a nice balance between light and dark areas work best. Avoid photos that are mostly very dark (deep shadows) or mostly very bright (blown-out highlights or silhouettes), as detail can be lost in these extremes. Clear subjects with good definition are ideal.

(Don’t worry if this sounds technical! The key is simply a clear, well-lit photo. If you’re unsure if your photo will work well, feel free to contact us before ordering!)

 

How to Order:

It’s easy!

  1. Choose your style (Single Pane – Framed/Unframed, or Box), select your preferred Frame/Box Finish (including specific Wood Like PLA colour if chosen), choose your Lithophane Colour (B&W or Colour), and add this item to your basket.
  2. Then, complete your purchase through the checkout.
  3. Once you receive your order confirmation, please email your high-resolution image(s) to [email protected]. Remember to include your Order Number in the subject line. For the Box Lithophane, please specify which images go where (e.g., front, left side, etc.).

Shipping

Due to the bespoke nature of our 3D printing service, orders are processed and manufactured individually.

To ensure the highest quality, we kindly request you allow at least 2-4 business days for the completion of your custom order.

UK Delivery

  • Standard: All UK orders under £50 are shipped using First Class Royal Mail.

  • Premium: All UK orders above £50 are shipped using Tracked 48hr Royal Mail.

International Shipping & Customs

International orders are shipped using 3-5 day Royal Mail Tracked and the price is calculated by the net weight of your order.

  • United States: Orders shipped to the USA valued under $800 will clear customs automatically and will not incur any import taxes, duties, or courier fees.

  • Rest of World: All other international orders are shipped directly from our UK workshop as “Delivered Duties Unpaid” (DDU).

  • EU: Due to the recent changes in EU laws we are unable to ship to any of the EU countries due to the high cost of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) & EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)

  • Unlike the US, countries like Canada have a strict duty-free threshold of CAD $20, and Mexico applies taxes to goods over $50 USD. This means your local customs authority will likely apply import taxes or VAT to your parcel when it arrives at the border.

  • Your local delivery courier (such as Canada Post, DHL, etc.) may also apply a separate administration or collection fee for processing these taxes on your behalf.

  • Customers are fully responsible for paying any import duties, local taxes, and courier handling fees required to receive their parcel.

Unclaimed Parcels & Delivery Failures

If an international parcel is returned to us because the local customs fees were refused, or if the delivery failed due to incomplete or incorrect address details provided at checkout (such as a missing house number or a name missing from an apartment doorbell), the original shipping cost is non-refundable.

To have a returned parcel sent back out, the customer will be required to cover the cost of a new shipping label. If the customer prefers to cancel the order upon its return, a refund will be issued for the cost of the physical items only, minus the original postage & packaging fee.

Safety & Quality

Safety & Usage Guidelines

  • Intended Use: Unless explicitly stated otherwise, our products are designed as decorative items, compact tool organiser, wall art, cosplay props, or tabletop accessories. They are not toys and are not intended for play.

  • Masks & Props: If this item is a mask or wearable prop, please note it is for costume use only. It does not provide any impact, respiratory, or UV protection.

  • Recommended Age: 14+ (Collector/Hobbyist Item).

  • Placement: For the safety of younger children, please ensure all items are kept out of reach of those under 36 months, particularly items containing small parts or batteries.

Material Care (PLA Only)

  • Heat Sensitivity: Unless otherwise stated all of our products are 3D printed using PLA (Polylactic Acid), an eco-friendly, biodegradable plastic. Please keep away from direct heat sources (such as radiators, heaters, or hot cars). PLA can soften and warp if exposed to temperatures above 60°C.

  • Cleaning: To clean, simply wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth or a duster. Do not submerge in water or use harsh chemical cleaners.

Material Care (PETG)

  • Heat Sensitivity: PETG is a highly durable and impact-resistant plastic. While it offers superior heat resistance compared to standard materials, please keep it away from extreme heat sources. PETG can begin to soften and warp if exposed to temperatures above 80°C.
  • Cleaning: PETG is naturally water-resistant. To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth or use mild soapy water if needed. Avoid using abrasive scrubbing pads or harsh chemical solvents, as these can damage the surface finish.

What to Expect from Your 3D Printed Item

At Alba PrintLabs, we produce your items using high-quality 3D printing technology. While we strive for perfection, this manufacturing process has unique characteristics that make every piece slightly different.

  • Layer Lines & Surface Texture: Unlike injection-moulded plastic which is perfectly smooth, 3D printing builds an object layer by layer. As a result, you will likely see horizontal “layer lines” on the surface of your product. On topography maps, these lines act as contour lines, adding to the detail.

  • Filament & Colour Consistency: We always use high-quality filaments from trusted suppliers. However, slight variations in colour shade can occur between spools. If your item requires a filament swap mid-print, there is a possibility that the colour shade may look slightly different. This is a normal part of the process and is not considered a defect.

  • Weight: Some products will have a net weight on the listing, these are for international shipping classes only, the net weight of a product can vary.

Finishing Tip: If you prefer an even smoother finish, the nature of PLA allows for post-processing. You can lightly sand the surface using fine-grit sandpaper.
